On loop.

When you watch a one-hour loop of video over and over again, it loses its novelty.

That’s what she told me, at least. She worked at the small bookshop counter at The Met, the one right in front of the “Street” video installation. I was mesmerized by the installation, and told her that, mostly just to engage someone, anyone, in conversation.

She loved it, she told me, but had grown tired of it after watching it for weeks. She said it with a smile that not just lit up the room, but brought brightness to the entire museum that shone brighter than all the light pouring in from the large windows.

We chatted for a few minutes, and I went on with my tour of the museum. Her simple, understated beauty stood out from all the art around me.
